![]() Hi! Kesha here of New World Tarot! Thank you for joining me today for another blog! I hope you had a great Summer Solstice and that you are getting out and enjoying your summer so far! It’s hard to believe we are already in July! This will probably be a shorter entry than most, as I need to prepare for a trip to Colorado! I’ve never been to Colorado, so I am definitely excited to take in some Western natural wonder, for sure! Whenever I end up in an astoundingly, majestically beautiful display of nature – whether that’s out West or a tropical island – I can’t help but think of a Tarot card, The Empress. The Empress is the card I most associate with nature and natural beauty, and I always want to just start an Instagram with a card against different pictures. I don’t know, that may come down the pipeline in one way or another, we shall see! So we are once again at another New Moon! The New Moon is that part of the cycle that is all about new beginnings, new growth and re-committing to our goals and desires. This time, our New Moon arrives in the sign of Cancer. Cancer is certainly a sign that I am familiar with, as I myself am a Cancer! Cancer is symbolized by the Crab and ruled by the element of Water. Cancer is often depicted as a private, emotional and empathic sign. It is traditionally seen as the sign of domesticity, nurturers, and very sensitive, feeling individuals. The ruling planet of Cancer is…the Moon. To me, this only adds to the punch of power that either a New Moon in Cancer or a Full Moon in Cancer has. The energy of Cancer is often a bit moody and changeable, just like the element of Water that runs through it like a wild and calm river. On one hand, Cancer is seen as being domestic and kind and emotional and nurturing, and on the other hand Cancer can be incredibly mean and emotionally manipulative and a bit unhinged. This month, I want to really focus on Cancer’s connection to our emotions and feelings. And why are our emotions and feelings so important? Our emotions are some of our most powerful tools to bring about the changes that we desire. I always like to talk about the two parts of our minds: the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is the smaller, more evolved part of your mind that does all of what you may classically consider “thinking.” This is the part of your mind that you were NOT born with. It acutally developed in your early childhood. It has all the countless thoughts: the decisions, the criticisms, the opinions, the judgements, the strategizing, the good thoughts, the bad thoughts, etc. However, there is an older, larger more powerful part of your brain that does a lot of work, often without being given any attention or credit, and that is your subconscious mind. This is the part of your mind that you were born with. It is very primitive, and is not “smart” per se, but it is extremely powerful. This includes your dreams (literal and figurative), your nightmares (literal and figurative), your fears, your hopes, your desires, your beliefs, your expectations and even every system in your body. You don’t have to remember to breathe thanks to your subconscious mind. You don’t have to remember to beat your heart because of your subconscious mind. You don’t have to remember to grow your hair or your fingernails or bring on your menstrual cycle because of your subconscious mind. Though your subconscious mind is not as “smart” as the conscious mind, it is so much more powerful. Your subconscious mind holds your beliefs, which in turn shape your expectations, and studies are showing again and again that it is our thoughts, our beliefs and our expectations that shape our world and determine our success in life. Therefore, working with and through your subconscious mind is vital in learning how to manifest your goals well. And the language of the subconscious mind is not words, but pictures, images and…emotions. Feelings. One way to know if you are on track to moving towards the goals you desire is through your feelings. When you are feeling good, it is because you are thinking good thoughts, which are sewing the seeds of the future you desire into your subconscious mind. When you are feeling bad, it is because you are thinking bad thoughts, which are also sewing the seeds of THAT future into your subconscious mind. In this way, we can use our emotions as a gage to determine if we are on track to our desires and goals. Have you heard of the practice of creative visualization? If you have heard of it - and it is becoming thankfully much more popular, so it is possible that you have – creative visualization is a practice that uses your imagination and your emotions to bring your goals from the world of potential to the physical world. The entire practice – in a nutshell – is to visualize having your desires in the present time, NOT in the future. When we dwell upon our desires being in the future, that tends to be where they stay. They are indeed materialized, but they are ALWAYS in the future. The problem with this is that we NEVER reside in the future. We only and can only reside in the present. And the most powerful way to bring your desires into the present is to FEEL as though they are happening RIGHT NOW. In fact, you could say that a shortcut to creative visualization is creative emotionalization, or just feeling as if you have what you want right now. Emotions add energetic strength and power to your intentions and your manifestations. When you are sitting next to a pond, for example, and smiling to yourself, your head full of happy and joyous thoughts of the future, the emotions you are putting out into the Universe are also happy and joyous. These thoughts, likewise, are working to create a happy and joyous future. When you are sitting by that same pond and crying and bawling your eyes out, your head is full of negative and destructive thoughts. These thoughts are in turn working to create a negative and destructive future. So…which would you rather have? The choice is yours, and the decision is deceptively simple. Choose the feelings that feel good. Always. Understandably, this will be easier said than done a lot of the time. There is something about despair, fear, anger, destruction and negativity that can be so hard to pull away from. I get it, I feel it too. But it all starts with knowing what is good for you, and it will, over time, get easier to drop the bad thoughts and emotions and embrace the good ones. This New Moon in Cancer is a great time to re-commit ourselves to checking into our emotions. And this is not just checking into our emotion for the sake of keeping track of them. This is checking into them for the purpose of harnessing them to manifest our goals and desires. Emotions, as it turns out, are not a feminine weakness, or any such foolishness that the modern world wants you to believe. They are powerful world builders, and world destroyers. This New Moon in Cancer, re-commit to harnessing them, controlling them and using them as tools to serve you. Let’s explore some ways you can do that.
