This Sunday, January 20th marks another Full Moon. And this, by the way, is a Supermoon! What is a Supermoon? This is when the moon appears in its Full phase closer to the Earth along its orbit than usual, resulting in the Full Moon appearing slightly larger than at other times. It’s has been recorded to have slight effects on tides as well. So this Full Moon, on January 20th, could be a really good time to check in with your intuition, your emotions, to see if the Supermoon affects you any differently.
So this Full Moon appears in the sign of Leo.
Following the moon cycle gives a really nice and well-balanced template for designing and planning our lives naturally and effectively. The moon cycle begins with the New Moon, also known as the Dark Moon, where the seeds of future, potential manifestations begin. The New Moon is where we intend and declare and commit to what we want to see and develop in our lives
As the moon cycle continues and the moon grows, we arrive at the moon’s most glorious and famous phase, the Full Moon. This is when the moon appears its largest and fullest and most well-lit, lighting up the night sky and the earth below. To me, the Full Moon is the best time for powerful FEMININE shadow work and life-changing energy work. As the New Moon is all about planning on what actions we are going to take and what steps we are going to work with – in other words, it’s more about Masculine energy – the Full Moon, much like her pregnant appearance, is all about Feminine work. And just like Feminine energy in all aspects of life, it is JUST as powerful as the Masculine. In this case, the Feminine work that we do during the Full Moon can be even MORE powerful than the masculine.
The Full Moon is an energetically amazing time to practice the powerful trifecta of Forgiveness, Surrender and Gratitude. These Feminine acts may sound not so powerful or even weak, but make no mistake: there are few more powerful or important things to practice in life. They are SOO important to maintain a life of health, happiness, wealth, joy and balance.
This Full Moon, as previously stated, arrives in the sign of Leo this January 20th. Now let’s talk about Leo for a moment. The sign of Leo, symbolized by the Lion, is one of the most well-known and celebrated of the zodiac signs. Everyone knows a Leo. YOU may even be a Leo. This sign is most well-known for exhibiting the characteristics of dominance, courage, leadership, passion, creativity and action. Whatever you have to say about those born under the sign of Leo, you HAVE to agree that they MAKE things happen. They are known for being creators and action-takers. And Leos don’t create with weakness or half-heartedness. Leos create with gusto, with boldness, with purpose and with a complete lack of apology. The sign of Leo is all about powerful creation and creativity.
It is this aspect of “aggressive creation” that we are going to explore this Full Moon. We, as humans, are constant creators. We are participants in a Universe that gives us constant manifesting power. There is a powerful Universal law called the Law of Cause and Effect, that teaches us that every action creates at least one effect (often more), and that every effect is the result of at least one cause (often more). Because we live and move and dance in this complex matrix of endless choices and endless effects that are spinning off, we create constantly, sometimes purposefully, but so often unintentionally.
And you better believe some of our own creations can make things hellishly difficult for us!
This Full Moon in Leo is a good time to really explore our own role in creating circumstances, situations and relationships that are, best case scenario, not serving us, and worst case scenario, harming ourselves and damaging the quality of our lives. Spiritual teachings tell us time and time again that we are constantly creating our world with our thoughts. When we are faced with circumstances that we do not want in our lives, it is true that we could be the passive victims of circumstances out of our control. What is more likely, however, is that we had something to do with the situations that we find ourselves in. Because we are incredibly powerful manifestors, we are constantly creating. This means when we are deliberate and focused and moving purposefully in the higher frequencies, we can create amazing circumstances. However, when we are careless and operating at lower frequencies, we can inadvertently create chaos and misery.
This New Moon in Leo, I’d like you to ask yourself: “Am I happy with my circumstances?” If the answer is no, it’s time to take some creative action, and fortunately for us Leo is ALL about creativity and action!
If you decide that you are not happy with your circumstances, it’s time to be honest with yourself. Ask yourself what part you have played as a co-creator to bring about your current circumstances. For example, if you do not have the money that you have, yes, there may be elements of your situation caused by more powerful elements such as maybe your employer demoting you, but what about your part? Perhaps you could be earning more money with a side job or a passive income stream or another higher-earning position altogether. Even if the catalyst for an unwanted situation did not come from you, it ultimately comes down to your own decisions that support or counter those forces that work against you. Are you going to work on the same side as your detractors and obstacles, or are you going to oppose those forces that are working against you? This is your choice. It may be a good time to ask yourself: “How did I get here? What circumstances would make me happier, and how can I move closer to that?”
Once you’ve admitted to yourself your own part in your own undesired creations, forgive yourself. This is very important to do. Understand that our mastering our manifesting mental powers is a lifetime challenge that takes many of us a very long time to get the hang of. In fact, many of us will never get the hang of it in a single lifetime. Grab a journal and make plans towards that. It doesn’t need to be anything grand or epic. Make the decision today to take one action to counter the undesired results that you see in your life.
Finally, give gratitude for your GOOD and valued creations. It’s NOT all doom and gloom! Though we certainly want to improve and challenge ourselves, give thanks for what you’ve done RIGHT. You may not have the job you want, but you may have A JOB. You may not have the perfect relationship, but you may have A relationship. Or your relationships may be messy right now, but what about your health? Are you, for example, taking care of yourself , or doing well in school? Find the good creations that you’re making, and give thanks!
